Nike Ad

Nike was founded in 1964. They were not always known as Nike. They began with the name “Blue Ribbon Sports.” Even in their first year they immediately took off. Now, in 2022 Nike is one of the largest companies for shoes. As their company grew, they also started producing more products such as socks, shirts, pants, and even sports gear. Their main purpose was for an athletic shoe. We use these shoes for work, and more.

The ad used for this paper states “The sneaker makes the man.” This ad is directed towards men. They use Iron Man in the background of this ad. Iron man is one of the most popular, caring, and tough man known due to his movies. A sneaker follows. This is persuasive towards men, but not woman. The argument the ad is making, men need these shoes. It is persuasive, but I also believe that it could be more persuasive. The ad would of made more of an impact if they directed it towards woman, too. Nike is gender nueteral. This brand is worn by woman and men throughout the world. Athletic shoes are used for numerous numbers of things. Nurses use them to stay comfortable while on the floor for hours at a time. They are used for sports throughout high school and college as well. They make comfy sports bras for woman, as well as breathable underwear for men. This company is for both genders, so why is this ad only directed towards men? This ad could have been more effective if they had made an ad persauding both men and women. Although , it is effective towards men. Men seeing the ad thinking they need those shoes now because not only are they stylish. They are also cozy and comfortable for day-to-day activities.

Nike started out as a small company. I doubt they ever knew they would grow to be one of the world's favorite companies for shoes worldwide. They are popular for shoes, but also day-to-day casual clothes. They have come an exceptionally long way since “Blue Ribbon Sports” in 1964.
